About La Seu, Palma Cathedral
La Seu rises over the Parc de la Mar and the old sea wall. Visit Palma describes how Antoni Gaudí opened up large windows and moved the choir and altarpieces to fill it with light; the main rose window, 11 metres across and made of more than a thousand pieces of glass, is “the largest rose window in the Gothic world”, in Visit Palma’s words. Look for the baldachin by Gaudí and Jujol, with 33 hanging lights, and Miquel Barceló’s 12-metre ceramic mural. Visit Palma gives these hours: Monday to Friday 10am–5:15pm (April, May and October), 10am–6:15pm (June to September), 10am–3:15pm (November to March); Saturdays 10am–2:15pm; general admission €8.
